Socioculturally disadvantaged environment and its influence on pre-school child

SUMMARY: The thesis describes a situation of the part of inhabitants of the Czech Republic that are currently regarded as socio-culturally disadvantaged. It aims to term factors that endanger a healthy and harmonic development of children living in a socio-culturally disadvantaged environment. The means of child protection are specified on international and national level and the current legislation in this field is reviewed. The thesis also deals with the position of ethnic minorities in the Czech Republic and concentrates on Romany minority. On the example of one city district of Prague is presented the lifestyle of Romany community, their cohabitation with the majority and their usage of Romany ethnolect. Possible causes of formation of socially excluded communities are listed together with social and health risks for Romany people that concentrate in such local communities. The situation in the field of education of pre-school children coming from a socio-culturally disadvantaged environment is described and legislative and executive measures to support their access to education are reviewed. Issue of unsuccessful pupils with various types of disadvantage

The rigorosum thesis deals with non-achieveving pupils with various types of disadvantage, especially with socio-cultural handicap. The introduction explains the importance of the problem, while the theoretical part is concerned with school failures, their reasons and their effect on pupils. It deals with the impact of the socio- cultural handicap on the child, its learning, training, education and free time. Emphasis is laid on the motivation, the individual approach and the ways of teaching, including the marking of pupils with reference to the non-achievers' emotions. Attention is also paid to the problems arising from dyslexia. The empiric part is based on qualitative research, during which a multi-aspect analysis of two non-achievers has been carried out by means of interviews, observation and other case study methods. There are general and concrete goals which should be achieved within the empirical part. Use is made of action research principles based primarily on action, reflection and revision, leading to probable causes of problems encountered. The data synthesis offers a relatively self-contained insight in those boys'developmental process. The core of the empiric part lies in the description of my work with these pupils, including the activities and special aids which I created for them.
Communication development for hearing impaired pupils at basic

Master thesis titled Communication development for hearing impaired pupils at basic deals with connection between children's hearing impairment, early intervention and the whole communication development at children's family and school enviroment. First chapter is about family, family with impaired child and also about social cultural disadvantaged enviroment. Second chapter clarifies perception language and speech, describes speech development, language's sections, and the possibilities of alternative or augmentative communication. In third chapter deals with hearing, clasiffication of hearing impairment, describes hearing examination, possibilities of communication with hearing impaired people and what compensation aids they can use. Fourth chapter is about basic practical school, preparatory class and describes education of Roma children. Fifth chapter, practical part od thesis, describes all the research investigation. The goal of the investigation is the analysis of children's communation level at basic school and its preparatory class. Value orientation of young people from socially and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds

The goal of the thesis is describing the value orientation of young people from the socially and culturally disadvantaged surroundings. The thesis is theoretical and empirical and it has a qualitative character. The research pattern are young people who are visiting a low- threshold facility for children and teenagers. We are describing the issue of the age of young people, conception of values, evaluation process, classification of values, value orientation, education to values, moral development of human, socially and culturally disadvantaged surroundings, family, peer groups and the low-threshold facility for children and teenagers in the theoretical part. There was performed an analysis of the value orientation of the selected group of respondents based on the data from semi-structured interview in practical part. The results of research shows that the part of the value orientation of the young people is the family, life in prosperity, free time, education, friends, interest activities, love, surroundings, make own family and responsibility. These parts characterize what is important, valuable and necessary for the respondents.

The influence of preschool education of gypsy children on success rate in entering of elementary school - case study in ZŠ Evžena Rošického Jihlava

The aim of this thesis is to determine whether pre-school education of gypsy children affects their successful integration into the educational process at schools. The practical part will focus on the special preparatory school year for gypsy children , which is at the elementary school E. Rošického at the detached workplace in Jarní. Here will the author familiarize with the school educational program prepared for gypsy pupils. Next, he will evaluate the success rate of children who did not attend the preparatory school year. One of the criteria for success will be the continuation of pupils at the primary school , their grades and their sucecssful graduating or their transfer to practical school. The criteria for successful integration into the educational process at the elementary school will be consulted with experts from the educational-psychological advisory centre, which the particular school visits, but also with the office of regional coordinator of gypsy questions in Vysočina and with teachers at that school. Preparatory classes are of course only one of the possible parts how to search for answers about the successful graduating. In the first part, the author will characterize the issues of education and education of the gypsy minority in the Czech Republic. He will make a brief description and will deal with current applicable curricula for preschool education. He will describe what goals the Czech school system has and how are these goals actually fulfiled at the particular school in Jihlava.
